The New 2015 Dietary Guidelines and Eggs

2015 Breaking Egg News

According to the results of the 2015 Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGA) eggs are an affordable, accessible, nutrient-rich source of high-quality protein, that can help Americans build healthful diets.

The updated DGA place no daily limit on dietary cholesterol. In addition, all of the recommended healthy eating patterns within the new DGA support regular consumption of eggs along with other nutrient-rich whole foods such as fruits, vegetables and whole grains.

For 70 calories and 25 cents apiece, one large egg provides varying amounts of 13 essential vitamins and minerals, high-quality protein, and the antioxidants lutein and zeaxanthin.
