Protein and Optimal Health

Nutrition & Research

Research has shown that dietary protein is important in maintaining body composition, bone health, glucose homeostatis, body weight and overall health. Dietary protein quality is determined by the amino acid composition of a protein and its digestibility. For example, eggs and milk have the highest digestibility in the human gut and contain all nine essential amino acids. In fact, the protein quality in eggs is so high that scientists often use eggs as the "gold standard" for measuring the protein quality of other foods. Click the image above to learn more.
